- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including child-height fixtures
- Clean eating areas and the kitchen
- Vacuum rugs and carpet, mop hard floors
- Empty trash and diaper pails according to your policy

Weekly, monthly or a few times a year
- Cubbies, window sills, vents and baseboards

Floor care and carpet cleaning in Calgary
Classroom floors take spills, glue and crumbs every day, so they're mopped and rugs are vacuumed every visit. Refinishing hard floors needs the room empty for a day, so it's scheduled for summer or winter break.
- Strip and wax (VCT): about $0.70 a square foot, $350 minimum. Once a year, over the summer.
- Scrub and recoat: about $0.40 a square foot, $275 minimum. Over winter or spring break.
- Carpet extraction: about $0.35 a square foot, $200 minimum. Two to four times a year for classroom rugs and carpet.
Floor work is priced per job, on top of the $425 to $2,800 a month for routine cleaning in Calgary. Ask for each job as its own line in the proposal so bids compare fairly. Rates from our pricing method.
Before you sign with a daycare or school cleaning company in Calgary
Ask the company for:
- A certificate of insurance naming your business, showing commercial general liability (commonly $2 million or more per occurrence) and a janitorial bond, plus a clearance letter from WCB-Alberta showing their workers' compensation account is in good standing.
- A price that fits the work. In Calgary, a 10,000 sq ft daycare or school cleaned three times a week runs about $1,750 CAD a month. A bid far below that usually means fewer hours on site, so ask for the crew size and hours per visit.
- A vulnerable sector check for every crew member. Ask what your provincial child care licensing rules require.
- Two references from buildings like yours in the Calgary area. Call both.

Frequently asked questions
How much does daycare and school cleaning cost in Calgary, AB?
It depends mostly on size and how often it's cleaned. In Calgary, a 4,000 square foot daycare or school runs about $425 a month cleaned once a week and $2,150 cleaned five times a week. A 10,000 square foot daycare or school cleaned five times a week runs about $2,800. Classrooms are quick to clean, but restroom count and the extra disinfecting of touch points add time. Summer deep cleans and floor refinishing are usually priced separately. Prices are in Canadian dollars, before sales tax.
How do I get a cleaning quote in Calgary?
Send the short form on this page. We pass your request to one local commercial cleaning company that serves Calgary. They contact you to set up a walkthrough and then send a written proposal. It's free and there's no obligation.
Do cleaners need a police check to work in a daycare?
Child care licensing rules in most provinces require a vulnerable sector check, the police check for people who work around children, for staff, and many centres ask the same of their cleaning crew even after hours. Ask each company how it screens staff and put the requirement in the contract.
What cleaning products are safe to use around children?
Look for Health Canada-approved disinfectants (they carry a DIN on the label) used at the right dilution, and certified green cleaners for general surfaces. Ask the company for its product list and safety data sheets before it starts.
