Medical and Dental Office Cleaning Checklist
A nightly cleaning scope for a medical or dental office, room by room, kept separate from the clinical work your own staff do between patients.
How to use it
- Cross out what you don't need and add anything special to your building.
- Attach it to your janitorial RFP, and give every company the same copy so the proposals price the same work.
- Walk through the building with each company using it, and keep it as the scope in the contract.

Usually not included
Price these separately if you need them:
- Disinfecting the exam table, dental chair and equipment between patients
- Sharps containers and red-bag waste, which go to a licensed medical waste company
- Instrument cleaning and sterilization
- Specimens, and anything in a lab fridge
Worth knowing
- Ask for proof that the crew has had bloodborne pathogen training under OSHA's standard (29 CFR 1910.1030).
- Disinfectants should be EPA-registered and left wet for the contact time on their label.
- Ask whether the crew uses separate color-coded cloths for restrooms and exam rooms, so nothing carries from one to the other.
